    The Ruin

The Ruin Even though I’m a lover of all things beer, I would never turn down a tasty cocktail. One of my favorite places to go for artisanal cocktails is The Ruin. The drinks are delicious, the staff is awesome, and the atmosphere is dark and cozy. If the cocktails on the menu don’t spike my interest, the bartenders are great at taking flavor profiles and a liquor of choice to make a drink that will almost always impress.   I also find myself returning  to Ruin because of the atmosphere. Before the late night shenanigans begin, Ruin has an intimate, darker vibe. You can sit at the bar, two…

    Harbor Seafood & Steak Co.

Harbor Seafood & Steak Co. My new mantra: When in doubt, go to Harbor Seafood & Steak Co.. It is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City. Simply because the food is down right delicious. You know those places where you plan your next visit and haven’t even finished eating your current meal? That’s Harbor. It’s honestly that good. When Ian and I first tried Harbor I was convinced it wouldn’t be that good. The a la carte menu screamed the 1990’s. There’s no way such a dated menu idea (choosing 2 sides and a sauce with a protein) could taste good. Well, the chefs at…

    3 Cups

3 Cups One of my favorite past times is visiting a coffee shop. Whether it’s to do work, meet-up with a friend, or simply relax with a cup of joe, 3 Cups is my go to coffee shop in Salt Lake. My requirements for a favorite coffee shop? Comfortable atmosphere, top notch coffee, and tasty treats. Fortunately, 3 Cups meets all of those requirements. Large glass windows results in plenty of natural lighting, making the atmosphere feel bright and welcoming. Seating is varied.  Options include intimate booths, large circular tables, bar style seating along the windows, or a large communal wooden table. If the weather is nice, seating outside is…

    White Horse

White Horse I’m a little ashamed it took me this long to find White Horse. I guess I can blame it on that whole thing called pregnancy and taking care of a newborn. Even though I’m a little late to the game, I’m one happy Salt Laker. I found a bar that’s stunning in looks, has delicious cocktails, and food that leaves you satisfied. Honestly, it’s what Salt Lake has needed for a while. Even though I haven’t had much of the menu, what I’ve had has been tasty. The confit duck wings with gochujang, gorgonzola creme fraiche and celery fennel salad was by far my favorite. There’s nothing wrong…

    Shredded Beef Sandwiches

Shredded Beef Sandwiches Oh how I love these shredded beef sandwiches. Inspired by Ree Drummond’s drip beef sandwiches, they are truly one of the easiest and most satisfying meals. You may think that adding an entire jar of pepperonis would make the beef spicy, but it doesn’t. The cooking process takes all of the heat out of the peppers. I suggest making these on a Sunday so you can enjoy the leftovers throughout the week. Print Recipe: Shredded Beef Sandwiches One of the most satisfying and easy recipes you'll ever make! Tender beef that is full of flavor. Don't worry the peppers don't make the beef spicy! They just add…

    The Best Tomato Sauce

The Best Tomato Sauce I have officially made the best tomato sauce.  It is ridiculously simple and ridiculously tasty.  I adapted the recipe from Smitten Kitchen by adding a parmesan rind, cayenne, and sugar.  But if you would rather keep it even simpler, the additions are optional. You may question how a dish with such few ingredients could be considered the best, but it truly is.  I promise. Print Recipe: The Best Tomato Sauce One of the easiest recipes I've ever written! An added bonus? It's finger licking good. Seriously. If my waist line would allow it, I would make and eat this pasta sauce at least once a week.…

    Spaghetti and Meatballs with Ricotta

Spaghetti and Meatballs with Ricotta If I could choose a last meal it would be spaghetti and meatballs.  The key to this recipe is the ricotta.  It makes the tomato sauce creamy and delectable.  These meatballs are also better than most because of the fresh herbs.  While this recipe takes time, it is worthwhile.  I promise. Print Recipe: Spaghetti and Meatballs with Ricotta Spaghetti and meatballs is one of my all time favorite dishes. Yes, it some prep/cook time, but it's completely worth it. Plus, you can make plenty for leftovers, so your handwork is appreciated for more than one meal! Course Main Course Cuisine Italian Keyword meatballs, pasta, spaghetti, tomato sauce…
