Harbor Seafood & Steak Co.

Harbor Seafood & Steak Co.

My new mantra: When in doubt, go to Harbor Seafood & Steak Co.. It is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City. Simply because the food is down right delicious. You know those places where you plan your next visit and haven’t even finished eating your current meal? That’s Harbor. It’s honestly that good.

When Ian and I first tried Harbor I was convinced it wouldn’t be that good. The a la carte menu screamed the 1990’s. There’s no way such a dated menu idea (choosing 2 sides and a sauce with a protein) could taste good. Well, the chefs at Harbor proved me wrong. Way wrong.

I suggest starting with the Boston Butter Wedge Salad with heirloom tomatoes, smoked bacon, and blue cheese dressing. I’m a sucker for anything blue cheese and bacon. While it’s not the most unique salads, it’s seasoned perfectly and truly hits the spot. If one of the daily specials is the Wagyu Beef Satay with spicy peanut sauce, fresno chile, sesame seeds, micro greens and sweet soy glaze, you need to get it. Ridiculously tender meet and the peanut sauce and is a combination I could eat all day, every day. Main entrees that never disappoint include the Maine Scallops, Wagyu Filet Mignon, Fish & Chips, and Daily Fish Specials. With each entrée, you’re able to choose 2 sides. While I’ve enjoyed several, my favorites are the Bleu Cheese & Bacon Au Gratin, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, Peas & Pancetta, and Roasted Brussel Sprouts & Walnuts.

Another reason I love Harbor is the service. I have yet to experience poor service. Welcoming and helpful, the servers seem to genuinely care that I have a good dining experience.

Atmosphere includes plenty of natural lighting, which is always a plus. Seating is available at half booths, tables, or the bar. While I love the modern look, the tables are relatively close together, so at times you may overhear your neighbors’ conversations.

If you’re craving seafood or steak, or just want delicious food, check out Harbor. It’s a gem in Salt Lake City’s food scene.
