2 Under 2
I can’t believe I’m one of those moms who has 2 kids under 2. Before having Collin, I had heard horror stories about how difficult that situation could be. To be honest, while my house isn’t a horror story, it’s definitely a crazy, loud, tantrum filled atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing in its own sense, especially watching Owen interact with Collin and seeing both boys grow and develop, but it definitely has its challenges.
To be honest, Owen has been more difficult than Collin. He is in full toddler stage, which means daily tantrums. Owen has also recognized that Collin gets held most of the day making him to request “up” at least 1,000 times a day. I will say before having two kids, I didn’t expect having to Owen with one arm and the car seat with the other. But on the up side, my biceps are bangin’.
Thus far, Collin has been an easier baby than Owen. He has been easier to sooth and overall not as fussy. He has also yet to show signs of acid reflux, so I’m just praying it stays that way. Sleep is still mediocre but that’s to be expected from any infant.
I have 3 weeks left of maternity leave and feel very torn about going back. While I know I would be a terrible stay at home mom, I’m not quite ready to combine the stress of being a mom of 2 and being a teacher. The thought of getting both boys ready for daycare in the morning and teaching the whole day already stresses me out. But, we’ll figure it out. I guess we always do.
I’ve started working out regularly. Even though my weight is almost back to pre Collin days, I still feel “soft.” Yes, I understand I had a baby 6 weeks ago, but it’s a bit difficult looking at myself in the gym mirror and thinking how much work it’s going to take to feel my normal, strong self. But it’s a challenge I’m quite enjoying. It feels wonderful being able to workout without hip pain.
My goals for the next 3 weeks include: thoroughly enjoying being with my boys (Ian included), not overly stress about things I can’t control, and watching plenty of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
